86. AAP Sanjay Singh Meets
Farmer Family
Offers Rs. 10 L Aid
Senior Aam Aadmi Party
leader Sanjay Singh today met the grieving
family of Gajendra Singh, the farmer who
allegedly hanged himself from a tree at Jantar
Mantar in Delhi where AAP's farmers' rally was
in progress.
Singh visited Nangal
Jhamarwada village in Bandikui area of Dausa
district and met with Singh's children and other
family members.
After sitting quietly for a
while before the daughter and sons of the
deceased farmer, Singh went inside a room to
meet his father, wife and other members.
He consoled the family
members there.
Earlier, the family had
rejected an apology by Arvind Kejriwal for
continuing with the AAP rally in Delhi, while
the farmer hanged himself to death and demanded
a CBI probe into the incident.
"What will happen now after
this apology? My brother has died. Kejriwal did
not stop the rally for even two minutes after
the incident," the farmer's sister Rekha told
reporters in the village.
Gajendra's father also
alleged some conspiracy behind his son's death.
"I feel there was a
conspiracy. Their conspiracy...They must have a
plan," he said.
The deceased farmer's
brother Vijender said his mental situation was
not of that sort that he would commit suicide.
"Although he may have been
a little upset... He was instigated by the
crowd. That is why it is being asked that why he
went there despite being a Samajwadi Party
worker," Vijendra said.
"First of all, I want to
know who invited him? His phone records should
be checked," he said.
On Kejriwal's apology, he
said at least the chief minister realised his
mistake.
A statement issued by the
party said Singh also told the family that the
Aam Aadmi Party will take care of education of
the three children of Singh and would bear all
expenses on the marriage of his daughter Megha.
"Singh arranged a
telephonic conversation between the members of
the bereaved family and AAP National Convenor
and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who
expressed his deep condolences. Kejriwal told
the family that the AAP stands with the family
in this hour of grief.
"Sunil Agiwal, Kirti
Pathak, Shakti Singh and Rajendra Singh of
party's Rajasthan unit also visited the family
with Sanjay Singh and assured the family of all
possible support and help by party's state
unit," the statement added.
Party MLAs from Delhi Sunil
Balyan, Rajesh Gupta and Rajesh Rishi also met
the family to express their condolences to the
bereaved family.
