NEW DELHI:  Cracking the whip against dissidents, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today suspended the Punjab Disciplinary Committee head Daljit Singh for anti-party activities and warned disgruntled MPs of facing stern disciplinary action.

The AAP's National Disciplinary Committee headed by Ashish Khetan and having Pankaj Gupta and Dinesh Waghela as members, had last week given a notice to Daljit Singh for not acting "as per the constitution".

Party sources said Mr Singh had even issued disciplinary notice to Sucha Singh Chotepur, party's state convenor and Sanjay Singh, a senior AAP leader, party incharge and a key aide of party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

"His response was found to be unsatisfactory. Following this he was suspended from the party," AAP's Delhi state convener Dilip Pandey Pandey said.

Last week, of its four MPs -all from Punjab - three of them had a meeting at Patiala parliamentarian Dharamvira Gandhi's residence and had spoken against the recent appointments made by the central leadership.

Incidentally, Dr Gandhi had openly spoken out against the party for criticising the leadership, following which he was removed as the parliamentary party leader.

"The National Disciplinary Committee and Political Affairs Committee is taking all their actions into congizance," Mr Pandey said.

With an aim to capture power, the party is preparing itself in Punjab and building the organisation. The state will go for polls in 2017.
