A51. WHEN I MADE SIMARJIT SINGH MANN THE PRESIDENT OF AKALI DAL.

             In every nation, religion, society, the waves keep rising like the ocean and after some time they calm down. Such was the case in the history of the Akali Dal after the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple. Opposition from the three Akali Dal leaders was evident among the people. Which could have benefited the Congress. Because I was in the Akali Dal. Therefore, it seemed necessary to keep it safe. I thought that if one of the militants whose name is known in Punjab is made the president of the Akali Dal, then the Akali Dal's talent can be restored.

                It was with this in mind that I traveled to the United States and Canada. But to my surprise, the personalities that were running through my mind were the American-Canadian Sikhs, the opposites. So there was no hope of success.

                  One morning, on my way to Ferozepur, I asked the servant standing in front of Inderjit Singh's mansion on what day Sardar Sahib would be released from jail. He said they had arrived in the morning.

With this in mind we walked from Faridkot to the roads. After some deliberation we requested Baba ji that Amrit Sanchar is being performed at Mudaki with the efforts of Inderjit yesterday and since then in my constituency Phool, Dayalpura Mirza, I have arranged Amrit Sanchar.                   Baba ji kept denying for a long time. But at last they agreed to attend for a short time. At Mudaki, eleven hundred souls were baptized and at Dayalpura Mirza, seven hundred souls. Both the places seemed to be flooded for Baba ji's touch. When it was found out in other constituencies that Baba Ji was involved in Amrit Sanchar, they started approaching us to take time from Baba Ji. When Baba ji requested about this, he agreed. However, he directed that no more than one program should be held in one day.

                I think Baba ji visited more than a hundred places. He also preached in some places. The Akali movement began to re-emerge in the Punjab. Many Gurmukhs started living with Baba ji. Where Baba Ji could not reach, two brothers of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji, Captain Sahib and Harjit Singh Ji started arriving. Many youngsters also started living with Baba ji. Of which I will only mention the name of a special Panthic personality, Gurdeep Singh Bathinda. Bhai Jasveer Singh Ji Rode, who lived out of the road for a long time. Roads began to remain all the time.

One evening, sitting on the roof of the door, Bhai Jasvir Singh expressed his desire to take out his newspaper. But I was of the opinion that he should first visit the whole of Punjab and create a political upsurge among the people. Captain Sahib also agreed with this idea. Singh Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji Rode led a tour of almost the entire Punjab. The religious movement became a political movement. The need was felt to form a new Akali Dal. Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji did not want to be the President. He wanted to be Singh Sahib.

                In this regard Baba ji sought the opinion of his young servants. All of them were of the opinion that Baba ji or one of his family should be made the president. One day Baba Ji asked me to give my opinion in this regard. I said make Shimarjit Singh the president. They are in jail. Become the Acting President in their place. There are many benefits. Opponents will call us a group of illiterates. Belonging to the royal family. Is a bureaucrat. Will be good No, they will come out of jail. Nor will there be a race for the presidency.

                 Baba ji came and asked how he would stay. I said, "Standing on the fort is five hundred. As soon as you put it together, you will sit there." Baba ji says brother I could not understand you. I said I have no other words to explain. When the time comes we will understand. But this is the best choice. Time passed. Man Sahib was mentioned many times in every assembly. In every gathering the merit of Mann Sahib, the Sikh love of Mann Sahib, the glory of Mann Sahib's father and family, was repeated.

              At last the time came when Mann Sahib was released. He was to land at Amritsar airport. Almost the entire family of the rioters reached the house of Ranjit Singh Brahmpura in five vehicles. He conveyed the message to Mann Sahib's relatives that Baba ji was waiting at Brahmpura's house. Everyone hoped that Mann Sahib would come directly to Baba ji and pay his respects. Three or four hours later, it was learned that Mann Sahib had reached his sister's house.

           Baba ji's whole lana reached the sister's house. But even here there was some mistreatment. They did not find any vacancies. They sat in the back room. Even after waiting for about an hour and a half, Mann Sahib did not come to meet him. It was evening. I said there are a lot of people to meet. They must have forgotten. We should get permission to go to them.

             Sant Jarnail Singh Jide's brother Capt. Sahib placed his hand on Man Sahib's shoulder and folded his hands. "Okay, Mann Sahib, let us go. it's getting dark". Mann Sahib said angrily, "Sardar ji, don't give a damn. I'm talking. " Captain Sahib returned. Perhaps they understood that this was the pillow word of Mann Sahib. Saying Sardar ji by a police officer is considered as an insult.

             The whole caravan returned without talking to Mann Sahib. Jagjit Singh and Baba Ji sat in my ambassador. On the way Captain Sahib asked Baba ji if he understood what Jalal Sahib said or not. Baba ji asked which one? The one standing on the fort is five hundred, he will sit down as soon as he is joined.              I guess the downfall of this movement has started from today. I understood the crack in my mind. It cannot be deleted quickly. The same thing happened. Which at times, manifested itself in various forms. I was always trying to make love again. But Mann Sahib's innovative thinking did not allow any success.

               For example, Badal Sahib and S. Gurtej Singh visited IAS Mann Sahib at Mann Sahib's Chandigarh Kothi. Mann Sahib did not meet him from 8 pm to 12 noon. He remained in Gurtej Singh's car, which was parked outside in the park. Mann Sahib did not want to meet. Advising Mann Sahib to rest, the Singhs locked him outside. When I found out about Gurtej Singh and Badal Sahib, I suggested to Gurdeep Singh that we, Mann Sahib, should request to meet them.

             He opened the lock and requested Mann Sahib to come to Darshan. You are the leader of the nation. How can you refuse to give a vision? As a result, they met for some time. However, on closer inspection these cracks were seen many times, but they did not reach the sangat.

Parliament was elected. Mann Akali Dal won nine seats. Only Rajdev Barnala stayed with Baba ji. All other members were supporters of Mann Sahib. Mann Sahib refused to enter Parliament and take oath on the issue of kirpan. One day I wanted to know the mood of Mann Sahib, what is your first objective, Mann Sahib? Is the first purpose for Sikhs to get their home or respect for Sri Sahib?

               If you want to get a Sikh home for the Sikhs, you can go to Parliament and introduce a resolution for a Sikh Homeland. Your demand will reach all over the world through the international press. If it is not fulfilled, then a state like Kashmir may get special privileges. Mann Sahib said "For Sikhs, Sri Sahib is first, everything else later".
